"Thomas Camp III Cemetery and Old Home Place just south of Rutherfordton, North Carolina N 35º 12.384´ W 081º 49.597´ Directions: a. Go South from Asheville, NC on I24, and exit at MM 35 onto US 74 b. Drive east on US Hwy 74 until you get just south of Rutherfordton, NC, and turn south on Hwy 221 (NOT 221A) c. Go about 8.4 miles until you cross the Broad River (it is NOT the FRENCH Broad River) d. About ½ mile south of the bridge, turn left onto Hines Road which is State Road 2021 (the turnoff is about 8.9 miles south of the US 74/Hwy 221 intersection) e. Go about .7 mile and you will cross the Horse Creek Bridge (no sign naming the creek) f. Immediately after you cross the bridge, turn left onto the dirt road, and stop at the gate. g. About 40 paces on the dirt road off the asphalt road and you will be confronted by a metal gate with a sign that says “No Trespassing;” but note: the cemetery is supposed to be on a one acre plot of land reserved for the cemetery in Thomas Camp III’s will and in deeds to the property; and as family members, we should have access to the property, but I wouldn't try to DRIVE past the gate - IT'S AN EASY WALK About 210 PACES down the dirt road, the cemetery will be on a small rise about 25 yards to your left, easily seen from the dirt road."
