James Camp EATON RAPIDS, MICH. — James T. "J.T." Camp, 77, of Eaton Rapids, Mich., died Aug. 2, 2000. He was a native of Shelby, son of the late Boyd and Laura Spake Camp, husband of the late Mary Camp, veteran of World War II, Purple Heart recipient, retired from Teamsters Local #580 working for Granger Bros. Construction Co. in Lansing, Mich., also worked as a truck driver for Cooper Chevy/Olds in Eaton Rapids, founding member of the Island City Baptist Church, life member and past noble of the I.O.O.F Lodge #114.

SHELBY — Mrs. Edna Camp Fortenberry, 78, of 409 Borders Road, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a retired lunchroom worker with Cleveland County Schools and a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd Houston and Laura Spake Camp, and a son, Roger Bell.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bobby D. Fortenberry; three sons, Lee Fortenberry and wife Pam, Carl Bell and wife Doris and Donald Bell, all of Shelby; four brothers, Hoyle and Catherine Camp of Rocky Mount, Jack and Barbara Camp and Hugh and Carolyn Camp, all of Shelby, and John and Earlene Camp of Ellenboro; three sisters, Jean Allen of Mooresboro, Rachel and Bill Jolley of Boiling Springs and Raye and Audrey Clarke of Shelby; and eight grandchildren, John Lee Fortenberry, Tim Bell, Kim Wade, Donna Bell, Jason Bell, Ritchie Bell, Noah Lovelace and Laura Bell.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cleveland Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ritt Varriale officiating.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Laura Camp Daves, 65, of 1110 Stoney Point Road, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born April 18, 1940, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Boyd Camp and Laura Jane Spake Camp. She was a homemaker and a member of New Camp Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Daves; three brothers, Bill, J. T. and Joe Camp; a sister, Ruby Ross; and a grandson, Scott Herring.
She is survived by her husband, Charles William Daves of the home; two daughters, Vickie Herring and husband, James, and Donnis Head and husband, Ronnie, all of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Edna Fortenberry and husband, Bob, and Raye Clark and husband, Aubrey, all of Shelby, Laura Jean Allen of Mooresboro and Rachel Jolley and husband, Bill, of Boiling Springs; four brothers, John Camp and wife, Erlene, of Kings Mountain, Jack Camp and wife, Barbara, and Hugh Camp and wife, Carolyn, all of Shelby, and Hoyle Camp and wife, Katherine, of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, Jamie McDaniel and husband, Chris, of Casar, Charles Herring and wife, Rebecca, of Shelby and Emily Daves of the home; and four great-grandchildren, James and Gabby McDaniel and Hannah and Scott Herring.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Richard Stroup and James Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in New Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 5:30 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

BOLIVIA — Peggy O’Neal Cupples, 75, of Brunswick County, died Sept. 21, 2001, at her residence.
She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late John D. and Vic Costner O’Neal, wife of the late Jerome S. Camp and H.L. Cupples, retired as a cashier from A&P Supermarket, member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Dallas.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ella Clark Camp, 88, of White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Fannie Ethridge Clark. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Grover and was the owner/operator of Grover Florist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Oscar Camp, and one daughter, Geraldine Stewart.
She is survived by one son, R.O. "Hoppy" Camp of Kings Mountain; five daughters, Barbara Acuff and Ginger Davis, both of Grover, Doris Short of Kings Mountain, Shirley Sisk of Long Beach and Toby Owens of Liberty, SC; 30 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Odis Shelton and Richard Horney officiating. Burial will follow at Grover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home of a daughter, 175 Blackburn Drive, Grover.

SHELBY - Mr. William "June" Bowden Jr., 66, of 406 Elizabeth Ave., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Hopsice of Cleveland County.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Wilma Bowden. He was a retired textile worker at Til-Mar Textiles. He was a member of the Singing Five Star's of Shelby and Hopper Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Charles Bowden; a stepdaughter, Diane Norris of Shelby; four brothers, the Rev. J.Q. Camp, James Camp and Donald Camp, all of Shelby and William W. Camp of Richmond, Va.; and three sisters, Julia C. Brooks of Shelby, Ceslie Perkins and Ella Watson of Kingstown.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Golden Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. J.Q. Camp officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Dockery's Funeral Home.

Obituary: CLARA ALBRIGHT CAMP, 93, died Wednesday, April 27.
She was born in Alamance County, on September 14, 1905 and was the daughter of Louvenia Pickard and James Samuel Albright. She attended Duke University where she received her teaching certificate, then graduated from Watts Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. She had been a resident of Pittsboro since 1936 when she and her husband, Dr. Horton Camp opened Chatham County's first hospital. Mrs. Camp was a active community volunteer. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Women of the Pittsboro
Presbyterian Church. She was also a former Deacon of the church. She retired as a Public Health Nurse in 1970 and for many years following her retirement she continued her visits to the "old people" of Chatham County.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph Horton Camp and her husband, Dr. Horton Camp.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Pittsboro Presbyterian Church, inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by a son, Jim Camp and daughter-in-law, Susan Levis Camp of Hayes, Virginia; grandson, Mike and his wife, Rosemary of Traverse City, Michigan; grandson, Joe of Greenville; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made in her name to the Pittsboro Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

"Mrs. Willie Grace Camp , 92, of Rutherfordton, NC, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Rutherford Hospital Inc. in Rutherfordton, NC.
She was born October 18, 1909 in Cherokee County, S.C.. Member of West Point Baptist Church; she was preceded in death by one daughter Helen Camp Taylor.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2002, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McMahan`s Funeral Home, Inc.
Services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2002, at 11:00 AM at McMahan`s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Mann; Rev. Ad Hopper will be officiating.
Burial will be at West Point Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, January 12.
The family will be at the home of Lori Kennedy.
